He wonders, can she see the sadness behind my eyes? Smoke & Mirrors. She sees his smile but doesn’t know what’s behind it. She hears his laugh, but can’t decipher what he’s really thinking. He touches her hand and wonders, can she feel my pain?
He wonders, can she see the sadness behind my eyes? Smoke & Mirrors. Honey, are you okay?, she asks, I’m fine, he says. But, she wonders, is that the truth?
He wonders, can she see the sadness behind my eyes? Smoke & Mirrors. He’s in a crowded room but feels alone. He felt empty, darkness took over, until… He looks across the room and makes eye contact with her. His world opens up. Seeing her, felt like he’d found the missing pieces of his puzzle.
He wonders, can she see the sadness behind my eyes? She’ll take the time to smile with him. Behind his smile is pain. Smoke & Mirrors. She’ll take the time to laugh with him. Behind his laugh is pain. Smoke & Mirrors. She’ll take the time to cry with him. She’ll hold his hand and feel his pain. She’ll take the time to sing with him. Behind is “happy” song is pain. Smoke & Mirrors.
But, he still wonders, does she know the sadness behind my eyes? She knows that his eyes tell a story that few will ever read She’ll take time to read the story his eyes tell and understand his pain She’ll look beyond the facade of smoke and mirrors If he’ll just come out of hiding If he’ll simply allow her to go beyond the surface; breakthrough
Then, he no longer wonders, can she see the sadness behind his eyes? The sadness has been nurtured with tenderness, kindness, and patience Such tenderness is enough that he’ll honor the sadness of the past The smoke is clears. The mirror glistens. He learns that she’ll love all of him – his past, his present, his future.
