Kofi Annan, former Secretary General of the United Nations, first Black African head of the U.N., seventh U.N. secretary-general and Nobel Peace Laureate passed away, today, at the age of 80. Mr. Annan was an avid champion for world peace and human rights. He was a charismatic leader who led by example that served his U.N. post with dignity and grace.

I am honored to have crossed paths with a man full of heartfelt intentions, wisdom, charm and grace. His even killed temperament and captivating smile during our brief but memorable chat reminded me very much of my father.
