He feels the warmth of the sun across his face as its light peeks through the curtains at sunrise
He opens his eyes to stare at the ceiling wondering which masks he'll dawn today
He wonders which suit of armor will keep his soul from being pierced by the daggers of the world
He shifts his body to prep for the day
But, not before feeling the gentleness of a gift God gave him
He turns to notice her eyes
He smiles because her eyes speak to him without her uttering a word
Her eyes remind, with just a look from her, that
He can go into the world, wearing his mask, wearing his armor, and be as tough as leather
But, when he returns home...
He can strip down to the barest parts of his soul
He doesn't have to be tough as nails Though, he's her protector and provider
With her, he knows that he doesn't need a mask or that suit of armor
Her eyes remind him that their home is a place of peace and refuge
He remembers that home for him lives within her heart
And, home is wherever her heart is and her heart is with him
Home is wherever they are together
He smiles because he's reminded that the day is only temporary
The day's danger is fleeting and he'll be home soon enough
He'll come home to her - her eyes, her smile, her heart, her touch
He'll come home to something no one else has, a gift God made uniquely for him,
A woman who fits him as perfectly as a tailor-made suit
He'll come home and be covered because her embrace is like a willow that creates an oasis of summertime shade
