Day 1 - Gratitude Challenge 2021

Updated: Feb 2, 2021

Let's not overthink it! I'll keep it simple today and share just five things for which I am grateful or thankful.

  1. Looking back over 2020, I am thankful that neither of my parents was afflicted by a coronavirus and still maintain general good health despite chronic illnesses.

  2. I'm grateful for Honey having joined my household. She fit right into the environment and brought a smile daily to my face. I had several dogs growing up and have always enjoyed animal companionship. Though, as a parent, I would never allow my kids to have a dog as I didn't want to end up with the extra responsibility. Having Honey has reminded me of the childhood-like joy that one feels when loving a furry companion.

  3. Neighbors! I'm more than thankful for the kindness of wonderful neighbors.

  4. I am very grateful for familial-like friendship. Not only am I blessed with friends that I consider family but I am blessed to have friends that consider me their family. A few people come to mind when I think about this type of friendship. We are there for each other not only in times of happiness but also in times of need. These people are my sisters and brothers.

  5. Oddly, today, I am thankful for the winter season. Winter has never been my favorite season as I am not a huge fan of cold weather and the gloominess of the season generally wreaks havoc on my mental health. I can say today that I've not only learned to embrace winter but to also embrace the emotions I feel during the season. As a result, I've come to understand that for me, winter is about becoming grounded, creating stability, and putting down some roots, which you can start manifesting as the spring season arrives.

What are 5 things for which you are grateful today?
