In the twilight of memories, a year has passed,
A love once vivid, now a whisper in the vast.
Underneath the sunset's warm embrace,
We danced with time, in a fleeting space.
One's spirit whispers through the air,
A poetic echo, a soul laid bare.
Gratitude blooms for the love we knew,
In the hues of sunsets, orange and blue.
A year ago, we shared that sacred view,
Two hearts entwined, a love anew.
But time, relentless, moves its course,
Leaving behind a bittersweet remorse.
Yet, in the rhythm of life's sweet song,
New melodies play, we journey along.
Grateful for the lessons, the joy, the pain,
For in every loss, new gains remain.
One's wisdom echoes in the breeze,
"Changes" he spoke (like my Brother Pac), and change appease.
So here I stand, with a heart that's grown,
Grateful for the love that I've known.
For every sunset that's painted the sky,
A canvas of memories, you and I.
In the ink of time, a chapter's done,
But the Book of Life has just begun.
As the sun dips low and darkness nears,
I'll carry our love through the passing years.
Grateful for the past, embracing the new,
In One's spirit, love continues to brew.

One year ago, today, I captured a photo of the most beautiful sunset with someone that I thought I'd build a new life with. Unfortunately, things changed. While disappointment, anger, and sadness sometimes creep to the surface, one thing has remained the same. I have no regrets about the experience of opening myself to him and creating memories - both great and not-so-great at times. “It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all” ~Alfred Lord Tennyson’s (poem “In Memoriam A.H.H.)
Experiencing love, even with its potential for pain and loss, is a fundamental part of the human experience. The joy and growth from loving another person are seen as valuable, even when that love ends in loss.
